Bethany Morns: The illustrator that catapults you from one dimension to the next!
For as long as I can remember I've been drawing. I suppose you could say art has been my passion project my whole entire life. So when it came to the big decisions in life regarding school, university and all round life in general...I've always taken the creative route. After graduating from Northumbria University in 2018 with a degree in animation ; I had to take a few years out. However I'm now back and want to be myself again- to be my own boss. I've been a member of my local art group for almost three years now which has helped me "get my groove back" and now I'm venturing out on my own. So this is me setting myself up to show what I can do--to be my own person in this hecking big world that we live in.
What medium i use has always been very important to me. As every idea/ creation that pops in my head always seem to flow out onto paper a lot faster once I've chosen what I'll use to get it there. For me, I primarily use mediums that I know will dry very quickly as I can be very messy at times (haha!). I enjoy drawing mostly so I usually stay with pencils, ink and many different alcohol markers. I also very much enjoy working in digital mediums which I work on using my laptop and tablet , using many different software such as adobe creative suite and apps such as procreate, ibis x and many more to achieve such random things. However I do dabble in watercolour and acrylic here and there too! This is due to the fact that I've found that if you stick with only one thing in art then you can really restrict your ability to progress in your journey. Learning something new can really enhance your abilities and really give you a new perspective on the work you create. As an artist I believe you can never truly be perfect--it is an ever learning path in life .
All my life I've been obsessed with cartoons. They have always been such an underrated form of art yet everyone can instantly recognise them . Combining my love of them with animation, tv and film it was inevitable that my artistic expression would be centred around that world. I love everything from scooby doo to doctor who. I also absolutely love just drawing everything in sight and mainly capturing people in a moment, like some sort of artistic time capsule.
I love all art and always have done with some of my favourite artists giving me some major inspiration over the years. People like Roy Lichtenstein, Keith Haring , Frida Kahlo, Van Gough and Andy Warhol just to name a few.
